24 Hour flash fiction posting: Epiphany

RIP Adam Yauch (AKA MCA)

I was not a big fan of the Beastie Boys after Ill Communication but I still respect and admire what the Beastie Boys-- and, in particular-- Adam Yauch accomplished. As musicians, they helped us fight for our right to party and showed that three Jewish boys could make a living as respectable rappers. They were ground breaking in spit of their apparent silliness. As humanitarians, they fought to free Tibet from the clutches of Chinese tyranny. Adam Yauch (better known as MCA) was an activist, artist, humanitarian, husband and father. He struggled against cancer for three valiant years before losing the battle earlier today, May 4th, 2012. Our thoughts and prayers to his family. The music world has lost a great innovator and the world as a whole has lost a great man.

RIP Junior Seau

Junior Seau's was found dead today in a bedroom in his Oceanside, California home. His death is being investigated as a suicide. He was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, and a handgun lay near his body. I will update this piece is evidence of foul play is found. After starring at USC, Seau played linebacker in the NFL for twenty seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. The Hall of Fame named to the All-Defensive team of the 90's. He is also a member of the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame, along with numerous other accolades. He leaves behind three teenage children. Seau was universally liked by everyone and he, according to former teammate Heath Evans, called everyone "Buddy". He also started the Junior Seau Foundation "with the mission to educate and empower young people through the support of child abuse prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, recreational opportunities, anti-juvenile delinquency efforts and compl
